Project 1 · Hat

Start here

Rib Studio Hat

A chunky 2×2 rib beanie, knitted in the round from a single skein of FACES on 10 mm needles.

Time: 2–3 hours
Yarn: 1 skein
Needles: 10 mm

You need: FACES · 1 skein, 200 g / 100 m · Circular 10 mm, 50 or 60 cm · Tapestry needle

Gauge: 8 × 13 = 10 cm · 10 mm

01Cast on

Cast on 44 stitches with 10 mm needles for a head circumference of 55–59 cm.
Join the stitches in the round.

022×2 rib

Work in 2×2 rib: alternate 2 knit stitches through the front loop and 2 purl stitches through the back loop.
Continue in this pattern for 40 rounds (including the cast-on round).

03Crown

Round 41: knit 2 stitches together following the pattern (2 knit stitches together as knit, 2 purl stitches together as purl).
Round 42: work in 1×1 rib.

04Finishing

Leave a yarn tail of approximately 50 cm and thread it onto a tapestry needle.
Gradually remove the stitches from the needle, threading the tapestry needle through each released stitch.
Pull the stitches tight.
Sew the top of the hat from the wrong side of the work.
Turn the finished hat right side out.

Project 2 · Cowl

Pebble Hug Cowl

A chunky twisted-texture cowl from one skein of FACES. Knitted in the round in 2–3 hours.

Time: 2–3 hours
Yarn: 1 skein
Needles: 12 mm

You need: FACES · 1 skein, 200 g / 100 m · Circular 12 mm, 80 cm · Tapestry needle

Gauge: 8 × 10 = 10 cm · 12 mm

01Cast on

Cast on 43 stitches (odd number).
Join in the round and work 1 knit, 1 purl.

02Twisted texture

Round 1: work all stitches through the front loop.
From round 2: above each knit stitch, purl through the front loop; above each purl stitch, knit through the back loop.
Continue until almost all the yarn is used.

03Finishing

Bind off all stitches knitwise.
Sew the beginning and end of the round together with a tapestry needle and weave in the ends.

Project 3 · Scarf

PERSONA

A chunky garter-stitch scarf knitted flat on 12 mm needles with FACES yarn: 155 cm from 2 skeins or 235 cm from 3.

Time: 4–6 hours

Needles: 12 mm

You need: FACES · 2–3 skeins, 200 g / 100 m · 12 mm (US 17) circular, 80 cm cable · Tapestry needle

Gauge: 8.5 × 12 = 10 cm · 12 mm

01Cast on

Using 12 mm (US 17) needles, cast on 17 stitches.

02Scarf body

Edge stitches: in every row, knit the first stitch. Always knit the last stitch, keeping the yarn in back of the work.
Work every stitch as a knit stitch in every row until the first skein of yarn is used up.
Join the yarn from the second skein and continue in garter stitch until the second skein is finished. With 2 skeins of FACES, the scarf will be about 155 cm (61 in) long.
For a longer scarf, join the yarn from the third skein and continue knitting: 3 skeins of FACES give a length of about 235 cm (92.5 in).

03Bind off & finishing

Bind off all stitches loosely.
Using a tapestry (or sewing) needle, weave in the remaining yarn tails invisibly.
